HOW TO WRITE AN APPLICATION

This workshop provides your organization the opportunity to understand the Lincoln Award, the application process and the Baldrige Criteria.  It also helps your organization get started on writing an application, with tips and examples on how to get the most out of the application.  This workshop also reviews the award level system and the key role of examiners.  This workshop is highly recommended for all first-time applicants.

Lean thinking in education

Lean Tools for Performance Excellence will provide an introduction to lean tools and how lean can increase your performance excellence.  The linkages between other tools will be discussed along with an understanding of how multiple tools can compliment each other.  Lean in its simplest form means cost reduction and elimination of non-value added activities.  This session is planned for the education sector.  Examples provided will all be from education.  This session is a must for administrators, principles, and assessment professionals.  The program will demonstrate how using the proper lean tools can save you time and money as you implement your district and school goals.

  • Introduction of Lean as an overall performance excellence methodology with brief comparisons to other methods such as Six Sigma.

  • Overview of the 16 main building blocks of Lean, with an introduction of several building blocks such as streamlined layout, point of use storage, value stream mapping, Kaizen events, and poka yoke as they relate to education

  • Exercises to reinforce concepts, as well as provide you with a jump start to begin to put Lean into practice when you leave training.

The word lean means eliminating waste.  This workshop focuses on lean concepts, essential principles, techniques, and ways to identify waste.  Comparison will be made with other performance excellence tools along with a discussion on lean's applicability within your industry.  Topics covered will also include: how to be more results oriented, overcoming objections to improvement, benefits of implementing lean, and how to reduce non-value added activities within your organization.

six sigma

A workshop that gives you the skills to improve processes in your work environment that have hindered your effectiveness and limited your productivity. Participants will be using the Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC) Structure on their work problems.

LEAN THINKING IN HEALTHCARE

This workshop focuses on Lean Concepts and Principles applied to the healthcare industry.  It discusses the absolute elimination of waste, reduction of cycle time, eliminating defects and reducing costs.

BUSINESS:  Through a cooperative effort with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), The Lincoln Foundation is offering employee training grants through DCEO's Emloyer Training Investment Program (ETIP).  Under the rules of the program, training costs are split 50/50 between ETIP funds and an organization's payments to The Lincoln Foundation.  Participants who qualify will receive a 50% rebate following the program and The Lincoln Foundation receipt of payment from DCEO.

 

EDUCATION:  Limited grant funding is available for education organizations.  Please contact The Foundation to see if your organization may qualify.
