The Lincoln Foundation for Performance Excellence was established to help organizations in Illinois prepare for the changes occurring in the world marketplace. Organizations seeking to improve their results have used the Lincoln Criteria for Performance Excellence to achieve greater success.

The Lincoln process is progressively tiered.   The award process allows organizations to measure themselves against The Lincoln Foundation’s seven Criteria for Performance Excellence, patterned after the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award: Leadership, Strategic Planning, Customer and Market Focus, Information and Analysis, Human Resource Focus, Process Management and Organization Results.

In order to provide candidates with practical stair-step approach toward performance excellence, The Lincoln process includes three progressively challenging tiers:

• The Lincoln Gold Award for Achievement of Excellence
  Organizations who have demonstrated exemplary approach, deployment and results in their overall quality systems and processes are recognized with the highest honor, The Lincoln Gold Award for Achievement of Excellence. Winners of this award are considered role models for other Illinois organizations.

• The Lincoln Silver Award for Progress Towards Excellence
  Organizations awarded The Lincoln Silver Award for Progress Toward Excellence are recognized for demonstrating sound and notable continuous improvement processes.

• The Lincoln Bronze Award for Commitment to Excellence
  Organizations awarded The Lincoln Bronze Award for Commitment to Excellence are recognized for their earnest efforts to adopt and apply continuous improvement principles.
